How Cannabis Works: A Guide

At Physis + Agency we imagine a world where everyone who has access to cannabis has the education needed to make their own decisions about its use. If they choose to consume, they do so mindfully and intentionally.

If you are new or returning to cannabis consumption, cannabis curious, cannabis experienced, concerned with wellness and mindfulness, a clinician who cares for folks who consume cannabis, a cannabis researcher, a cannabis industry professional, or anyone else who has access to cannabis and cannabis products or cares for folks who do, this book is for you.

In the process of making this book, we had thousands of conversations across the cannabis spectrum with consumers of all kinds, producers, retailers, doctors, therapists, social workers, parents, researchers, and public health advocates.

We distilled those, plus hundreds of research papers and our own original research, into an accessible and comprehensive overview of how cannabis works. Our intention is that individuals have a clear guide to make decisions for themselves, and communities have a foundation of shared knowledge to have informed and compassionate conversations about the roles cannabis plays around them.
